The American Water Works Association and Isle Utilities are excited to invite utilities to participate in the Resilience TAG Series. As essential businesses, utilities must build the resilience they need to ensure continuous operations of their critical infrastructure. This three-part program will give utilities the exclusive opportunity to review cultivated solutions through live demonstrations, peer-to-peer interaction, and networking with top technology providers during two virtual workshops and one in-person event.

A new partnership between technology and business consultancy Isle, the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) and change-making consultancy ThinkPlace will deliver an industry-leading innovative technologies programme. Some 23 WSAA members have already signed up for the W-Lab programme which launched in March 2020.

Prior to the pandemic, many service providers were prioritizing planning and response to PFAS. However, utilities have had to reprioritize and mobilize resources in response to COVID-19. As we continue to learn that both topics remain of high importance, Isle Utilities, in partnership with leading water utilities around the world, is facilitating collaborative projects between end users to increase peer exchange of best practice and learning of vetted emerging solutions to these topics.

Water companies, with their huge asset bases and wide-ranging data, can benefit greatly from advances in artificial intelligence – but what steps should they be taking to reap the rewards? Three leading innovation experts lend their insight to Benjamin Tam, managing director of global technology and innovation consultancy Isle UK.

While a global concern, the response to PFAS across geographies differ. There are many efforts in parallel around research, policy, and piloting of solutions; therefore, Isle is taking a leading role to synthesize qualified research and facilitate an independent review of emerging and market-ready solutions. Supported by the industry’s leading water utilities, this unique effort will establish a collaborative forum for exchange of best practice and experience between peers.

A WhatsApp group intended for a handful of utilities to share learnings and experiences of the Covid-19 pandemic has quickly scaled to involve over 180 organisations. Isle founder and chairman Piers Clark started the social media chat group just over two weeks ago as the lockdown of populations meant utilities had to respond rapidly to multiple unprecedented challenges.

European Water and Wastewater TAG 18 were originally set to take place in Paris on 18th and 19th March. However, after restrictions put in place due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the meeting was run entirely virtually.

On 29th January 2020, the Working Group ‘Water Security’ organised a workshop on Quantitative Assessment of Water Security. The workshop was hosted by KWR Water Research Institute in the Netherlands. The co-leaders of the Working Group, Jan Hofman (University of Bath and KWR) and Blanca Antizar (Isle Utilities) chaired the day. Over 20 participants from different destinations in Europe came to Nieuwegein to join the workshop.

Through its REEF charitable ‘foundation’, Isle Utilities supports entrepreneurs working in water and sanitation in developing and emerging countries. Just before Christmas 2019, Natasha Giroux, a graduate in our London office, joined an international team from Isle for a trip to a toilet-building enterprise in Cambodia – and took part in the Angkor Wat Half Marathon.
