Following our partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, Isle delivered the first Water Utility Innovation Platform event – similar to the Technology Approval Group (TAG) model – for South America.

A number of ‘emerging’ pesticides, such as metaldehyde, clopyralid, propyzamide and carbetamide, have recently been detected in drinking water sources and cannot be removed below the regulatory limit with existing technologies without incurring excessive cost.The overall objective of this project was to find a cost-effective treatment solution for these emerging pesticides, to secure compliance with the drinking water quality standard.

This was a project awarded jointly to Isle and WRc. Research over the last two decades has demonstrated a relationship between exposure to low concentrations of the contraceptive pill (EE2) and the occurrence of feminised male fish in rivers and estuaries. However, to reduce the concentration of EE2 in some wastewater final effluents is beyond the capabilities of conventional water treatment systems.

Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco), an entity of the Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi, today signed an agreement with the ISLE Group to be the first official member of the Technology Approval Group, TAG, in the UAE.
