TRANSCO becomes TAG member

Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco), an entity of the Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi, today signed an agreement with the ISLE Group to be the first official member of the Technology Approval Group, TAG, in the UAE.

Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (Transco), an entity of the Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi, today signed an agreement with the ISLE Group to be the first official member of the Technology Approval Group, TAG, in the UAE.

TAG, launched in the United Kingdom 15 years ago, is a forum that brings together water utilities from across the globe through innovation meetings for the goal of accelerating the use of new technologies in the water industry.

The announcement was made during the World Future Energy Summit, WFES, 2019 that is being held as part of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, ADSW, 2019 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from 14th to 19th January.

Dr Bruce Stedall, the Acting Managing Director, said, “This agreement was a part of Transco’s vision to be an innovative world-class provider of sustainable water and electricity transmission services.”

“We are very happy to welcome TRANSCO as a new valued member of our global TAG community,” says Peter Millar, Managing Director for Isle Middle East. Adding, “This proved to be so successful that TAG groups now exist across the globe with close to 150 utility members benefitting from the more than 4500 technologies that have been screened by Isle and after selection by the members introduced to TAG.”

We have found that the exchange of views and experience that takes place between the like-minded members in the carefully orchestrated process and dialogue in the TAG groups when reviewing the selected technologies and case studies, greatly helps to accelerate the uptake of new technologies, he added. “I have no doubt that this membership will be a valuable contribution to the forward-looking and insightful initiative by TRANSCO’s leadership to increasingly embrace and adopt innovation going forward,” Millar said.

Aiming at best practices in providing water to its customers, the membership will give TRANSCO a great opportunity to improve its water operations and the service delivery through accessing new technology in the sector. This is besides enabling the company to benchmark its operations and business practices against global water utilities from the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Australia and Singapore.

Not only this but expanding its network contacts with global water sector companies by attending the networking sessions offers TAG members the opportunity to learn from each other by exchanging expertise and ideas. The membership will give TRANSCO great market insight and awareness to improve its productivity and apply recommendations provided by other TAG members.

This will allow TRANSCO to think of creative technological innovations in the water sector that offer optimum results in reliability, safety, productivity and cost. They will utilise their TAG membership to search for efficient and optimising innovative ideas and technologies to enhance performance in the water transmission sector, reduce costs related to new water technologies in projects and improve environmental outcomes for the benefit of environmental awareness and safety using new water technologies in the UAE.
