Collaborative innovation to ensure cities are resilient against future threats and challenges
Cities face a growing range of adversities and challenges in the 21st century, from the effects of climate change and natural disasters to growing populations and inadequate infrastructure. Resilience is what helps cities adapt and transform in the face of these challenges and prepare for both the expected and the unexpected.
Since 2019, UR TAG brings together European cities and utilities to collaboratively review and discuss the most innovative solutions in the fields of climate change adaptation, energy transition, nature-based solutions and digitalization. We further facilitate the exchange of best practices between the most forward-thinking regions, cities and utilities by traditional presentations, site visits and by initiating joint research projects.
Three times a year at UR TAG-meetings city representatives, water specialists, sustainability/innovation managers and other experts gather. Some weeks prior to this meeting the members receive a list of the newest technological solutions related to urban resilience which have been thoroughly vetted and compactly described by Isle’s experts. The members vote on the most promising technologies, which will be presented at the UR TAG meeting with the goal of lowering the hurdle to adopt innovative solutions. Over the last years Isle has evaluated large amounts of new technologies in this context, varying from stormwater management systems, resilient infrastructures, nature-based solutions to smart technologies.
