Head of TAG - Eastern USA

Isle Utilities is a boutique technology and innovation consultancy with global headquarters in the UK and local headquarters in Palo Alto, CA. Isle aims to accelerate the commercialization of disruptive emerging water technologies. We do this through two core capabilities, through our Technology Approval Group (TAG) – a unique innovation forum for global water utilities – and our advisory services.

TAG is a unique innovation forum for water utilities that was established in the UK in November 2005 and is a core distinction of the Isle Utilities brand. The aim of the forum is to accelerate the market uptake of novel technologies within the water sector. This is done by engaging the end-users (i.e. water utilities) and vetted technologies during the pre to early commercial stages of technology development. Regional TAG forums are delivered by Isle throughout the US for our members.

OBJECTIVE

To support the continued growth of the US division of Isle, we are currently seeking a candidate that can manage the existing 3 TAG forums: Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. The successful candidate will identify the priorities and interests of the water utility community, work with the Isle TAG Technology Team to identify the best available solutions and facilitate meetings that engage solution providers with end users. The Head of TAG East will be responsible for delivering a high-quality service, ensuring client satisfaction, and generating new memberships in the eastern region.

What you’ll be doing

​PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

TAG Business Development

  • Grow water utility participation of existing Eastern TAG groups to defined targets
  • Identify and engage with potential clients / stakeholders to bring them into regional meetings
  • Secure multi-year contracts with clients and maintain high retention of memberships
  • Lead the formation and development of new regional TAG groups to agreed plans
  • Identify utility needs beyond the TAG program that can be supported by Isle’s consultancy services
  • Develop personal strategic plan that will feed into Isle’s annual budget and strategy
  • Maintain and report out performance metrics monthly and quarterly, and as needed by senior management

TAG Client Engagement

  • Build strong client relationships with existing TAG members to maintain high satisfaction and retention levels as well as engagement in TAG meetings
  • Facilitate a gap and needs assessment with TAG members to understand their key business drivers and technology needs
  • Build strong relationships with technology companies to secure their involvement in TAG and the potential for follow-on work
  • Lead the preparation, facilitation and execution of TAG meetings in the eastern region
  • Identify collaborative opportunities among utility members

Other Accountabilities

Isle Utilities is a small company; therefore, many key business activities may also require input from the Head of TAG. These may include, but are not limited to:

  • Marketing – support the marketing needs of the company and participate in relevant promotional networking events / seminars / conferences.
  • Consulting Projects – Constantly seek opportunities for Isle US to undertake consultancy projects to support clients, such as market scoping studies, collaborative technology trials, horizon scans, etc.
  • Attend industry events to a) connect with utilities and b) identify new technologies

What the role requires

Knowledge/Experience

  • Education in Business Administration, Communication, or Engineering
  • Post-graduate education and professional certifications are a plus
  • Minimum 5 years experience of business development, communications, and/or client relationship management, minimum of 3 years within the water industry
  • Experience working with water and wastewater agencies with evidence of relationships across different management levels within the organization, particularly with senior leadership
  • Demonstration of successful client relationship management, program management, and/or project management within the water sector
  • Expertise around water and wastewater applications, processes, regulatory requirements, with preferred insight to commercial dynamics, is preferred
  • Experience leading workshops/facilitation of meetings and ability to coordinate and manage teams/projects
