Lourdes is a chemical and environmental engineer with over 7 years’ experience working in the water and environmental sectors which include several international organizations in brewery and pulp and paper industries. Her areas of expertise are within municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. She has engineering and research background in renewable energy, clean technologies and sustainable development. Her previous consultancy experience involved Environmental Impact Assessments of a diverse range of projects in Honduras. Lourdes is experienced in the full development and operation cycle of wastewater projects having worked on lab and pilot-scale research to full implementation and operation of a wastewater treatment plant. During her research career, she focused on assessing and improving the biogas production from the anaerobic digestion of various wastewaters and sludges in order to increase energy recovery and reduce waste.
Lourdes has a double PhD in Chemical Engineering specialized in Clean Technologies from Aalto University, Finland & Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain. She also holds a double Masters in Chemical Engineering with a focus in Industrial Process Design from the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden & University of Bologna, Italy.
