The Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF), has entered into a partnership with Isle Inc., an independent technology and innovation consultancy specializing in clean technologies. Under the agreement, WERF will work with Isle to develop research and demonstrations of technologies that can accelerate innovation in the water quality community. Isle’s Technology Approval Group (TAG) will identify new technologies for inclusion in the Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) technology evaluation program.

LIFT is a joint program led by the WERF and the Water Environment Federation (WEF) intended to accelerate the adoption of innovative water quality technologies. Isle’s mission is to accelerate the market uptake of ‘step-change’ technologies by introducing them to potentially interested wastewater facility owners during the pre-commercial stages of development and by facilitating additional research and trials to demonstrate the feasibility of the technologies.

“WERF is justifiably proud of the success of the LIFT technology evaluation program. It has grown from several initial participants just over two years ago to several hundred participants. As we explore the next generation of LIFT, successful collaboration with other technology development programs like Isle’s TAG program will be critical to the continued growth and success of our efforts. We look forward to working closely with Isle, Inc. staff to accelerate the development, testing and implementation of new technologies to serve WERF subscribers and the water quality community” explains Larry P Jaworski, Interim Executive Director of WERF.

“Nurturing of new technologies and securing diverse sources of investment is desperately needed if the water industry is to tackle the mounting challenges ahead. This exciting collaboration is another key step forward to enabling the uptake of emerging technologies which will help to shape the future of the US water industry” explains Bill Kelly, President of Isle Inc. “The industry needs this type of forum and collaboration to ensure that innovation currently being lost to our marketplace is allowed to see the light of day and deliver the sustainable solutions that we need to be implementing today to meet the challenges of the future”.

WERF subscribers and Isle members will benefit from this partnership between WERF and Isle Inc., as new technology and process validation is vital for making significant changes to the current market.
