Senior Consultant

We are currently seeking for a Senior Consultant to join our European team. The role will support the delivery of major projects with clients worldwide primarily within the industrial sector. Isle Utilities is a technology and innovation consultancy specialising in cleantech. Our focus in everything we do is on accelerating the development and commercialisation of emerging technologies.

Isle has worked on behalf of various industries (F&B, mining, chemicals, semiconductors, and others) supporting them in identifying water optimisation opportunities and best practices for their sites globally, developing and meeting their sustainability and water strategy goals, and screening and identifying emerging solutions that solve specific site challenges.

The position available is for a water professional with a background in water and /or wastewater and strong project management skills. We are interested in hearing from applicants with 8+ years’ experience. The ideal candidate will be looking to further their career and gain invaluable experience within a consultancy focusing on innovation in the water and wastewater space.

You will be responsible for turning client briefs into executable projects and focus on delivering won work. Taking an active role in meetings, identifying new opportunities, presenting ideas and concepts to clients, managing and supporting delivery of projects and presenting outputs; form the core of this role. You will further develop the skills and act as a final reviewer of the work of more junior staff.

Principal accountabilities

  • Work with key water industry clients (F&B, mining, O&G, chemicals, pharmaceuticals,
    semiconductors, and other manufacturing industries) to understand their needs, drivers and technology requirements;
  • Design and execute consultancy projects to meet client’s needs using personal expertise and that of the team;
  • Manage projects to time and budget for our clients;
  • Deliver consultancy projects through contribution to the outputs and also provide an expert reviewer role to ensure high standards in the team;
  • Evaluate (from a technical and commercial perspective) new and existing technologies,
    products and services;
  • Support with the delivery of projects. These will be broad ranging and may include: water saving studies and audits (water balance analysis and design of water saving scenarios using state-of-the-art water technologies), site specific technology assessments, water strategy and stewardship support, troubleshooting studies.
  • Lead the organisation and delivery of key stakeholder meetings, seminars and workshops;
  • Contribute and lead consultancy projects that span other territories such as UK, Australia, Singapore and US.

This position offers the successful candidate long-term and international opportunities, with the chance to move between business units and our global offices. We have a centrally located office in Utrecht, Netherlands but as a result of our strong digital capability and cloud-based systems, it will also be possible for the successful candidate to work flexibly from home. The candidate is preferred to be located in the Netherlands.

Requirements

  • Preferably Master degree in Environmental sciences/engineering or other science field with a relevance to water/wastewater
  • 8+ years experience working in engineering consulting, R&D, water utilities, relevant industries and/or technology providers
  • Excellent knowledge of water and/or wastewater processes
  • Good understanding of global challenges related to water/wastewater and the direct
    implications for industries
  • Dedicated, diligent with a curious and creative mindset – never afraid to ask questions or
    challenge
  • Familiarity with environmental technology applicable for water and wastewater treatment
  • Practical experience implementing technologies and running trials at end-user sites will be an asset
  • An organised and methodological approach to planning and delivering work of a high quality
  • Ability to work effectively independently and in a team-oriented environment
  • High self-motivation, can-do attitude, optimistic outlook
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • Other languages (e.g. Spanish, Italian) will be considered an asset
